A Fresh Start

20-May-2013

“I have gained 35 pounds in the past two years. My god.” I remember the exact moment when it hit me how out of control I had let my eating habits become. I was at the doctor’s office, sitting on that sticky table with the noisy paper they place on top. I was a bundle of nerves, fatigue, and nausea. The reality was simple: I hadn’t felt like myself in months. I did not know why, but it scared me. I was certain something was seriously wrong. A tumor? Maybe a thyroid issue. People gain weight from those things all the time.

Getting the Motivation to Move!

17-May-2013

We all say to ourselves: I will exercise tomorrow. I’m gonna go for a run and do it everyday this week. I will join the gym. I will walk to work. But saying these things are easier said than done. Obviously! There are always the easiest excuses to make: I’m too tired. I’m too lazy. I don’t have enough time during the day. I have too many things to do already. I don’t have the funds to join a gym or buy workout gear.

Less Sugar More Taste: Cake in a Mug Recipe

16-May-2013

I like to eat as healthy as possible. I definitely feel better when I’m sticking to a healthy regime that covers all nutritional bases, however, sometimes I just NEED that dessert. I crave that something sweet after savoury.

Live for Today

15-May-2013

Over the past year I have gone through an enormity of changes- physically, emotionally and mentally. It started with moving out of home from small town Queenstown in NZ to the busy capital city of Wellington, moving into a university flat with 4 strangers and adjusting to my new independent lifestyle that consisted of paying bills, walking absolutely everywhere, making new friends, keeping in touch with old ones, all whilst I was working my butt off trying to get good grades at university!

Starting A Business

14-May-2013

To say the online world is booming, is an understatement. But let’s rewind a few years ago, pre the e-boom and that’s where my story begins. At the age of 22 I started my foray as an entrepreneur (…yes, I’m only 26 now, but I seem to consider myself old! Crazy, right?) and so, ONElittlePIECE, an online fashion e-boutique, was born.

Romance Novels and Love Songs Can Heal Your Love Life – Fact or Fiction?

13-May-2013

A lot of people love reading books – especially love stories. Similarly most people also love music – especially love songs. This brought me to wonder, are these portrayals of love good for our own love life? Can they heal our wounded heart? Can they help us find someone who can love us until death?

The Happiness Project-Book Review

09-May-2013

The Happiness Project Author Gretchen Rubin "The days are long, but the years are short" One of the most inspiring books I've ever read (and I've read a lot of books). The Happiness Project outlines a one year project by author Gretchen Rubin to achieve careful, measurable goals in different areas of life (vitality, work, relationships, attitude) and build on them using definite steps (such as getting to bed earlier, pursuing passions, exercising better, and being more organized). The outcome is good, not perfect, but Rubin's perceptive, intelligent, relatable account is both inspirational and forgiving, accentuated with just the right amount of research, tips, and sound advice. The book is organized into twelve chapters with each focusing on one month and a specific goal (boost energy, remember love, aim higher, lighten up, pay attention, pursue a passion, etc.) in a ce

The Wonders of Dead Sea Salt

09-May-2013

I have always had combination skin, sometimes it is oily and sometimes it is dry. When it is dry it becomes itchy and red. Sometimes I break out in random rashes. When it is oily, it drives me crazy, because it feels gross. I have been in the market for years for something to soothe my skin when dry and even-out my tone when oily.

Running

08-May-2013

Today exercise is a huge part of my life, but looking back to just a few years ago I never thought about my health. I was just a kid that was heavy and just liked to sit around and watch TV. I mean I played sports when I was growing up, but I never really cared about my health.

Resisting the Ego

06-May-2013

By James Uhl The ego is the piece of us that allows for distinction from those around us, it can be a useful tool in understanding self-worth and confidence in one’s abilities. So why would it be such a bad thing to value our ego, to use it as a means to grow strong and be satisfied with one’s own self? Because in choosing the ego for purpose and growth you forfeit your connection to the universe. In looking only
